These adoption specials coincide with a major milestone: the 25th anniversary of the Metro Denver Animal Welfare Alliance (MDAWA). For the past quarter-century, MDAWA has been at the forefront of improving animal welfare, increasing adoptions, and providing critical resources to pets and their families. In 2024 alone, MDAWA organizations supported over 250,000 pets through adoption programs, veterinary care, pet food assistance, and more.

To celebrate this milestone, MDAWA shelters are offering exciting adoption specials throughout March:
- Denver Animal Shelter’s St. Pitties Day – $17 adoption fees for pit bulls and bully mixes over 6 months of age.
- Riverdale Animal Shelter’s O’Doption Special – $17 adoption fees for dogs who have been at the shelter for 17 days or longer.
- Aurora Animal Shelter’s Adopt Your Lucky Charm Event – Offering adult dogs (6+ months old) for a $50 adoption fee.
With shelters experiencing high intake numbers, these events provide a perfect opportunity to open your heart and home to a pet in need while also supporting the incredible work of local animal welfare organizations.
